1948 Alvis TA 14 Saloon
1948 Alvis TA 14 Saloon With Sliding Sunroof, Chassis number 21601, Beautifully presented coach built Alvis motor car which has been subject of a full professional restoration between 1991 and 2004. The Chassis left the Alvis factory on the 8th of May 1947 and was delivered to "Morkell and Carnil". A one off aluminum body was produced by "Car Panels" (Nuneaton) LTD Off Kings Road, Nuneaton and fitted to the chassis. Registered new LRB990 on the 9/2/1948 to its fist owner a Mr Leslie Roberts of Littleover, Derby, Derbyshire who owned the Alvis TA14 up to 1956. The TA14 was then sold to the Atkinson family also from Derby, finally being owned by J Atkinson and C Atkinson from 1966 to 1991 at which point it was sold to Mr A Ward of Sheffield who had the Alvis TA 14 restored. It was sold to Mr Patton in 2005 and then purchased by its latter owner in 2006. In and around 2018 it was subject to some professional remedial works being carried out by "Fisher Restorations" LTD of Droitwich, Worcestershire (invoices supplied), and is today beautiful. The interior seating was retained in its original condition and adds charm and patina to what is a lovely period saloon car. I have driven the Alvis TA14 and it starts easily with no apparent oil smoke. It accelerates well and the gear change is beautiful; classic Alvis. Oil pressure and water temperature maintain correctly and the charging system functions correctly. It has positive steering and effective braking. The Alvis is not only and excellent classic car but the history supplied with this TA14 is impressive. Both "Buff" and "Green Log Books", MOTs going back to 1978, Detailed ownership history, correspondence from the Alvis factory, restoration invoice and photographs, maintenance history, current V5C, handbooks, factory drawings, Alvis club literature and spare keys. Continue the story and be the next keeper of this lovely Alvis motor car.
